Christmas Toffee (aka) Christmas Crack

This toffee recipe is all over social media.
This is my version of Christmas toffee crack
I made it for my family Christmas. They could not stop eating it.

Ingredients;
1 sleeve saltine crackers
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 LB or stick of unsalted butter
12oz chocolate chips, I like the 60% cocoa type
1/2 cup chopped nuts; pecans, walnuts or whatever pleases you
Christmas colored sprinkles if you like

Directions;
Pre heat oven to 350.
Line a lipped cookie sheet with foil and lightly spray with baking spray.  Place the crackers side by side and edges too on the cookie sheet.
Place the sugar and butter in a small pot and simmer until bubbling.
Carefully pour the sugar mixture over the crackers being careful not to splash it on your skin.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.  Remove from oven and place chocolate evenly over the hot sugar mixture.  Spread with a spatula.  If the chips do not immediately melt place the pan back in the over that has been shut off for a few more minutes.  Then spread again.
Sprinkle the nuts on the top and let sit at room temperature for an hour or two . Decorate with Christmas colored sprinkles if you like.
Then place the pan in the refrigerator to harden.  Peel the foil off the bottom and break into 2″-3″ pieces.
Store in a tin lining each layer with waxed paper.
